A solar power plant is a system that converts sunlight into electrical energy using solar panels. In this blog, we will discuss the key features of a solar power plant, its working principle, types, advantages, and disadvantages.
Key Features of a Solar Power Plant
A solar power plant consists of three main components: solar panels, an inverter, and a battery bank. Solar panels are the primary component of a solar power plant that converts sunlight into DC electricity. The inverter converts DC electricity into AC electricity that can be used to power homes and businesses. The battery bank stores excess energy generated by the solar panels for use during times when there is no sunlight.
Working Principle of a Solar Power Plant
Solar panels work by the photovoltaic effect, which is the process of converting sunlight into electricity. Solar panels consist of a series of solar cells that are made of semiconductor materials such as silicon. When sunlight strikes the solar cells, it excites electrons, causing them to flow through the cell and generate an electric current. This current is collected by the wiring in the solar panel and directed toward the inverter.

Disadvantages of Solar Power Plants
